Meet the teachers
I started CambriLearn so that I can have a positive impact on students around the world. I initially studied a BCom/LLB and completed my articles, only to realise my passion is teaching.
I teach business, accounting and economics. I am extremely passionate about teaching and have been teaching the British syllabus for more than 10 years. I am proud of my teaching track record and of the results my students have achieved. My interests and hobbies include fitness, Agatha Christie novels, funny cat videos and drinking GREAT coffee. Even though I am managing CambriLearn, teaching will always be my number one passion and I am a teacher for life!
I'm a conservation ecologist with a passion for biology, maths and statistics. After completing my PhD, I got into teaching via tutoring and found an unexpected perfect fit.
I thoroughly believe that everyone can do maths and it is wonderful to see students coming to the same conclusion as their understanding deepens. Spreading awareness and understanding about biology directly links into my interests in environmental and ecological realms. In my spare time, I like to exercise my creativity with crazy quilting and photography!
I'm a South African born to Italian immigrants and have always enjoyed languages. I have travelled extensively and spent time in Israel, studying and tutoring Hebrew, French and English.
On returning to South Africa, I did my Honours in French-English and Italian-English translation at Wits University and continued tutoring French whilst doing a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) course. This really gave me the tools to teach from beginner to advanced level. I love travelling and learning about different cultures as language is an integral part of every person's culture.
I am one of those people who never really left school! I finished high school, went to university and then back into schools and the world of education. I have been fortunate enough to have had the chance to teach at all levels ranging from pre-primary to university.
This has shown me that basic teaching skills do not change that much from level to level. All students need clear explanations, the opportunity to get help as soon as a problem crops up and the reassurance that their teacher has his/her back. When not teaching I enjoy reading, watching British comedies, swimming and meeting friends for coffee and something including chocolate. My "happy place" is a waterhole in the Kruger National Park early in the morning, especially if there are one or two hyenas lippety loppiting around!
English is my passion! I have my Masters in English from the University of Pretoria. I have been teaching in this field for the past five years. I absolutely love reading and my favourite genre to read is fantasy, followed closely by science fiction.
English is an important subject because it hones your communication skills. It involves a lot of reading which expands the mind and encourages creative thinking. I believe that if you can master your English skills, you will find that studying other subjects becomes easier. And don't assume English is a straightforward subject to study; as columnist Doug Larson said: "If the English language made any sense, lackadaisical would have something to do with a shortage of flowers!". I look forward to embarking on this journey of enrichment with you all.
