Principal and Co-founder

I started CambriLearn so that I can have a positive impact on students around the world. I initially studied a BCom/LLB and completed my articles, only to realise my passion is teaching.

I teach business, accounting and economics. I am extremely passionate about teaching and have been teaching the British syllabus for more than 10 years. I am proud of my teaching track record and of the results my students have achieved. My interests and hobbies include fitness, Agatha Christie novels, funny cat videos and drinking GREAT coffee. Even though I am managing CambriLearn, teaching will always be my number one passion and I am a teacher for life!

Belinda Backwell

HOD: Primary Stage

Belinda was born and educated in New Zealand. She settled in London for 16 years. Whilst in London Belinda worked in corporate. She moved back to New Zealand in 2009, where she returned to university and completed her Graduate Diploma in Teaching. Belinda started her teaching career at Marlborough Primary School in Auckland. In 2015, she relocated with her family to Cape Town and started teaching Grade 7 at an independent school and became Principal of the school in 2020. She has been teaching for 12 years in total, across all primary stage subjects.

Brendon Page Green

HOD: Science

Upper Secondary to A Levels

Brendon has been teaching for nine years full-time. He has a specialization in S.A.C.E. FET High School Physical Science, but teaches across Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Geography.

Sybrand van Dyk

Teacher: Maths

Upper Secondary to A Levels

Sybrand van Dyk is an ex-engineer, avid musician and a math, science and space fanatic.

He studied at the University of Pretoria whilst travelling the world as a professional musician and cultivating his love for teaching.

After gaining teaching experience he sought out a teaching career and fell in love with teaching maths and physics. He now teaches full time, and has done so for the last five years. His focus is on Mathematics in Foundation I, II and IGCSE.

Maria Lycoudi

Teacher: Science, Biology and Physics

Upper Secondary to A Levels

Maria has taught for over 25 years, and has previous experience teaching Physics and Engineering to university undergraduates, in-service teachers and PGE teachers.

Maria has been with CambriLearn since 2017, teaching Physics, Chemistry and Natural Sciences at all levels, from Primary Stage 1 to A Level.

Verni Mumford

Teacher: Maths and Science

Primary Stage

Verni has been teaching full-time for 10 years, with the last two years spent here at CambriLearn. She has previously taught for two years with a focus on early childhood development (ECD), three years as a Grade 2 and Grade 3 teacher, and then for three years as an LSEN teacher.

Her subjects of specialty are Mathematics, Science, English and Life Skills.

Cheyenne Puntis

HOD: Maths

Upper Secondary to A Levels

Cheyenne has taught high school for seven years. As one of our teachers, she has focused on Mathematics (from Foundation I to A Levels), which includes Pure Maths and Statistics, as well as English at IGCSE to A Levels.

She also has experience teaching Mathematics from Grade/Year 7 all the way to 12 for the IB (Dubai), SAKAI, CAPS and IED syllabi.

Neil Cave

HOD: Languages

Upper Secondary to A Levels

Neil is a husband to an IT teacher and a father to three daughters, all of whom he has taught either in a classroom or at home. He is a first language English speaker, living in an Afrikaans farming town in the Cape (which also happens to be near the French-inspired town of Franschhoek). Neil started life in the UK, immigrated to SA when he was very young and ended up in Villiersdorp via the Eastern Cape, eSwatini (formally Swaziland), Malaysia, Dubai and Kenya. Besides teaching English, he has also spent a lot of time teaching Drama, so he is that kind of English teacher, which he argues is both a blessing and a curse.
